How we do it

It can be very daunting to appoint a financial adviser.  Even the most successful person has areas of their financial affairs they know are not brilliant and it requires a lot to go through same with a stranger.

We will normally meet a new potential client on an informal basis to see if  our services will benefit them.

We start by finding out as much as possible about a client's financial affairs. We then spend time trying to clarify and prioritise our client's objectives so we have a clear set of objectives and timescales.  We also undertake a detailed assessment to establish their risk tolerance for investments.

We then obtain full information on all the client’s existing protection, investment and pension plans to ensure we have an accurate picture of their position.  This may include liaising with their other professionals to obtain additional information.

We then prepare a comprehensive report for the client where we review their entire financial life and provide recommendations to match objectives with resources and to maximise returns and minimise tax and other burdens.

Finally we implement our recommendations (in conjunction with the client’s other advisers).  Sometimes recommendations can be highly complex but we strive to make them as understandable as possible and we always proceed at the client’s own pace.

A very important part of what we do is to provide regular reviews.  These are usually undertaken at least once a year, but sometimes more often than that if circumstances so dictate.
